Chinese Cinema 1950-65

Following the 2010-11 Season, the Guild was pleased to present a bonus mini-season of Chinese Cinema from the first 15 or so years of Communist Rule, 1950-65.

These screenings were preceded by introductions by Dr Julian Ward, from the Department of Chinese Studies at the University of Edinburgh, who also led post-screening discussions.

Dr Ward is the co-editor of The Chinese Cinema Book, published by Palgrave Macmillan.

The launch of the book saw a one-day Studies in Chinese Cinema event on Saturday 2 July 2011, which EFG members were welcome to attend.
