In the early 1920s a masked woman, born in Edinburgh, appeared in Scottish venues with local films she had directed. She was at the start of a world tour during which she promoted British film and culture, received many plaudits and performed before Royalty. But by 1930 she and her partner had disappeared: to reinvent themselves, yet again. This illustrated talk will outline her colourful life, the varied roles she played during her long career, and answer the question ‘Who was she?’
